Happy B-Day. Many more good days ahead for you. Take Care, Jerry
Into your hands' sheep of your own fold, a lamb of
your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming.
Receive her into the arms of your mercy, into the
blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious
company of the saints in light. Amen.
May her soul and the souls of all the departed, through
the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Happy Birthday Tom!!

Carol and I were talking this morning about the recent Oregon law that drops any proficiency requirements for high school students. No reading, writing or math required for graduation.Students won't have to prove they learned anything at all. I know we did not have any proficiency tests to graduate but what were the requirements back then to get a diploma from WHS? Anyone remember?
I thought California was deteriorating but it looks like we are in a race to the bottom with Oregon. If we cannot expect students to read, write or do basic math, what then is the point of requiring school attendance?
When we entered WHS we had a choice of 3 paths. We could take business, vocational or college prep. Were the requirements to graduate different for each one. We can't remember.
