Thomas Meeham so sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter on 9/11. I used to work at the NYSE and was in the WTC every day coming up from the PATH train before I moved to San Diego in1991. That was such a horrendous event- the effects are never ending. Even more so for you and your wife. So sorry.

Hi guys,
Been reading all your posts I don't remember a lot about the streets or the places. I left Fords 40 some years ago. Is #7school still standing? Does anyone remember any of our 7grade teachers

Judy, one of our 7th grade teachers whose name I remember is Mr. Seigh( sp); he taught history. The very nice lady who taught geography had red hair. She was at #7 for many years. Miss  Mossman was health/phys . ed.Also, #7 school was very nicely convertered to an apartment building many years ago.

Regarding #7 School I'm pretty sure it was converted to an office bldg.

Let's see - other teachers at that school I remember was Mrs. Kelly (my kindergarten teacher, a very nice person), Miss Menwig for 2nd grade (I skipped 1st), Mrs. Maidey (sp?) for 3rd and many teachers for 4th moving forward.

Like Mrs Lochle for English, Mrs Harding for math, Mrs Stuart for social studies.

For 5th grade due to school boundry changes many of us Fords kids had to trek to #14 school. The only teacher I remember from that school was another Mrs. Kelly.

We continued at #14 school for the first few weeks of 6th grade until those school boundries were reversed again which enabled us to finish 6th and 7th grade at #7 school.

I guess we were lucky to have our 8th grade class at the then brand new WHS.

Regarding #7 school I can barely remember Mr. Rodner the janitor, and Mrs. Politi the janitress if that' a legit word. Both super nice folks.

Damn, I can't remember the shop teachers name, he wouldn't let me use any of the power tools, probably for good reason!

And of course I doubt anyone is able to forget Mr.Sharpe, our principal during our early years at #7 school. He epitomized the mean, stearn looking principals of that time period.

There was Mrs. Johnson&Mrs. Augustine @#7 school also. At #14 I recall a Miss Copeland (I think) for my 5th garde teacher. I remember that Lois Ryder was in my class. Likewise, I returned to #7 for 6th & 7th. Mrs.Mack was my homeroom teacher in 6th.

Linda Pry (Burdash)

#14 School had Mrs. Johnston,  Mrs. Hill,  Mrs, Kisstrip?sp, Mrs. Damback, Mrs. Schwella, Mrs. Copeland, Miss Trautwien who died at an early age.  Mrs. Shrarp.  Mrs. Kelly who later became principal of 14 school.  Can't remember gym teacher (man). who lived on Wildwood Ave. in Fords.  And yes Bob. #7 is now office buildings.

Nobody remembers Mrs. Mayti and singing The Yellow Rose of Texas...or Mrs. Harding assigning 25 long division problems in class and growling at kids...or Mr. C with a brown paper bag bottle in the closet ? He spent a lot of time sticking his head in there. For me that schoolyard was baseball...stick all...tackle Football on the front grass til the street lights went on..and my slice of Rockwell's Americana.

Robert W, yes I remember Mr. C (Seigh?) with his brown bag in the closet, think I mentioned it previously.  Does anyone remember Miss Mossman on the playground making sure the boys and girls were separated?

Who else remembers our ( 2nd? or 1st?) grade Thanksgiving program? Were you an Indian or a pilgrim? I still have that photo somewhere.I was an Indian and I remember Jane Bonalsky a pilgrim.

I also recall how we had music classes in the auditorium where we learned patriotic and seasonal songs.

Reading back on some of these posts I remember well the redistrict to #14. Seemed like a 5 mi walk from Fairfield Ave. Anybody remember the Kukon bros...or Al Bukala? I talk to Glen Schuster via email pretty often. There is where I recall the best teachers. Demback (sp?)and Augustine are the most vivid. There seemed to be the first real "people" I encountered in my Fords early education. The others were from the 1800's old school types. When I went into education my main objective was to NOT be like that....so I guess they made an impact. These days I spend hours each week reteaching on Skype what some of those Mrs. Hardings and Mr C were so awful at doing. It seems Florida teachers are still in 1950. Anyway...the great memories were the kids and the times...I left to go to EHS in April of Soph year but the great Fords memories are all in tact. This is a great review here BK...

Hi Carol, I lived in Scottsdale for a year in1998. Maricopa is not far from Chandler. What part of PA do you live?

I am blown away by the intelligence and memory of the "Fords" kids.  I  have so few memories, I applaud you all!  Teachers names, classmates, you're all amazing.

Someone mentioned Mr. Seigh, I don't remember his brown paper bag bottle, but I do remember at the time there was a record that went "One two three, look at Mr. Lee"....  Some of us used to sing "One, two three, look at Mr. C"....  We really thought we were very clever back then.

Carol Fischer, I am so flattered that you remembered I was in your class.  I have pleasant memories of our friendshipl, but I'm clueless about teachers and what classmates were in what classes.  DUH!

Lois,I only remember you. You sat behind me. We had a foot fight one day.Do you remember that now?Yes,but we did have a good friendship despite that.  We all know how 5th graders are.

The group included  Marlene and Jeannette. I am sorry that they can't share their memories. We used to meet at the Mary Ave. park.I think Diane Seyler would be there, too.

I do recall the song and how we tormented that poor man. I can see why he wanted to run to the back cabinet.I spoke with Jane Bonalsky today. She gave him a hard time ,too.

Take care.

Hi everyone   I just had the chance to read all the posts especially those from the Fords classmates. I went to Our Lady of Peace from kindergarden to 8th grade.  But remember a lot about Fords.  I still have some family there.

I lived on Paul Street the last house on the right near the tracks.  My brother sold the house and it was taken down last year.

I remember most of the places you all chat about.  I will pay more attention to the site from now on.

Bobby and Rich, thanks for the look into the past. I even recognize some of our classmates.

I oftentimes think of Peggy Fagayas and Joan Hospidor. I wonder if anyone has knowledge of them.
